This past May, the Studio BV team headed to Urban Ventures at their CityKid Farm to help them get ready for their spring planting. We organized and planted a variety of seedlings that included a lot of the fruits and vegetables that CityKid Farm provides along the Greenway near their Midtown location. At this site, they house an educational plot, two greenhouses, a CityKid Market location, a bee apiary, and an orchard. They use these to help educate and grow food for those that they serve in this neighborhood. We loved getting to know more about their programs and being able to be a part of helping this important mission!
This volunteer event was how we kicked off our first Studio BV Retreat. Community involvement is a key value of the firm, so what better way to start our day together than to put this value into action. We then spent the rest of the day together learning about each other and talking about the other values of the firm and how to accentuate them in our daily practice. We ended the day with a great talk by Dr. Kathleen Vohs, Betsy's sister. She talked to us on her research around creativity and decision fatigue. It was an inspiring day together!
